Watch lots of poker, from the poker on your television to the people you are playing with, watch how they play and learn from the mistakes and tricks you see them do.

Note, While watching poker on television, most scenes are from the final tables of professionals playing vs. professionals and the way they play is not always the way you want to play at the cash games. Shows like high stakes poker are on tv for the thrill and excitement to the viewers, not for the learning experiences.

For television, watch and learn the percentages and poker theories, most shows you watch, will display both the players cards and there percentages which is great for learning

I find Poker After Dark to be the best poker show to watch to date. The world series is a uniform poker tournament with cash prizes for finishing below first place.

Winner takes all situations bring out the big guns, the mind games and the strategic betting play. It's a thrill to watch.

If you're in the UK and have Sky, Cable, Digital television check out Challenge TV at 1:00AM each morning for Poker After Dark. Brilliant show, and offers a lot to learn.

I love watching the world series of poker when it airs, ESPN does quite a good job covering the event. There are so many players in the event that there is always an interesting all in hand to watch.

yea, when i first started playing poker, years ago, i learned from watching the pros at the world series. The basic mentality i gained from that is: try to minimise you're losses or maximise you're gains (depending on you're cards) on EVERY hand, do not waste any of you're chips and play smart. Even if you're holdin pocket rockets, if someone is betting aggresively, you have to take them seriously, look for flushes and straights, they might even have 2 pair or 3 of a kind!

I really like high stakes poker and wpt and of course i watch the wsop when it comes on but i enjoy after dark some as well.......if a big tournament is online i may watch the final table of it also i checked out Halfrek gettin first in one of the ftops events and winning 500k just becuz prize was so big

Poker After Dark is certainly a great poker series. I agree to the idea that to improve your game you need to watch a lot of poker, but you also need to read some good poker books to help improve your game.

I usually flip through the channels to watch the occasional poker tournament or poker show, but don't spend a lot of time on them since I don't really watch all that much TV. I do get a kick out of some of the DVD releases though and have picked up a few of those over the years.
